The Roger Chilcott Music in the Community Society
The Society was formed in the Autumn of 2002 in memory of Roger and of his work with music in the community. The main objects of the Society are to bring a variety music to the community, catering for all age groups, and a variety of musical tastes, and to help young people in the understanding and practice of music. Proceeds of the music events will be used to help young people, and to assist local schools to purchase extra musical instruments for their pupils.
The objects of the Society are:-
To promote, improve, develop and maintain public education in and appreciation of the art and science of music in all its aspects by the presentation of public concerts and recitals particularly by young people.
To provide grants, bursaries, sponsorships, loans, assistance to buy musical instruments and to stage events for both individuals, charitable groups, orchestras and bands.
To bring a variety of music events into the community, and to help young people in the understanding and practice of music.
This will continue the work started by Roger Chilcott who he was organist of St. Catharine’s Church, Baglan from 1962 - 2001
